Spent today with the arts connection at the Ferry Building gallery. Sara Robichaud gave a presentation on behalf of GOLDEN acrylics. Great presentation on the colours and the mediums. Gave me a good understanding of the difference in the heavy body, liquid and open products and how they can be used.
Enjoyed the meeting with other artists, but found out that the program will be changing and membership will not be part of the program. This was the last program for the year and they will be changing the format for next year, including not having a membership sign up.
I enjoyed the latest show that had its opening yesterday - Beauty is all there is - by unity Bainbridge, member of the order of Canada and 101 years old. Loved the display of her art journals and plein air painting kit.
I am busy teaching classes in watercolour in West Vancouver and ma really enjoying it. Current classes are available in my Thursday morning classes that go until DECEMBER 7TH. The next set of classes are scheduled for Jan 18th to March 15th. We explore a new watercolour each class and try different styles. Some of the styles include, pen and ink, abstract, botanical, urban realism, landscape and seascape. We also discuss color theory and different tips and techniques.
I have chosen at the same time to refresh my art skills by enrolling in the FOUNDATIONS PROGRAM at the federation gallery of the federation of Canadian artists down on Granville Island. This is 10 weeks on Wednesday nights and a great way to meet fellow artists and see great instructors!
I hope to get going again on updating my blog with tales from my latest teaching at sea, so stay tuned.
