Being represented by Galeria Sol Mexicano

Well, the season is now winding down and I will be heading back north to many new activities!  However, now my watercolor , my coloring pages and postcards are being represented and sold at Galeria Sol Mexicano!  Gallery owner Lorraine Farrow is enjoying the new paintings I have been creating and is interested in representing me!  Thank you Lorraine!

So many things to start getting in order for the trip up north back to beautiful BC!  I will be having 3 showings so far - two with the Vancouver Sketch Club and one with the Hycroft Painters at the Summer Gallery in Hycroft!  So far, I have reserved a space at the Plein Air Challenge on April 9th at Vandusen Gardens as part of the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival.  Artist Sheree Jones and Artist Alfonso Tejada are busy painting at different times and also providing classes for this event.

I'm still waiting to hear about the vancouver biennalle, they have posted that all info will be out by April 10th.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

Federation has just posted their submission for the "Culture" show coming up at the Granville gallery.  I have submitted some of my paintings from this past season in Mexico, so will see if any are accepted.

Also, the Federation has posted a plein air event to be happening on April 23rd, 2016 down at Jericho Beach.  Should be a fabulous event to participate in or just watch!

Besides all the "activities" coming up, I have been challenged with investigating 'color theory'.  I thought I had some knowledge of different colors and color combinations and someone asked me to give a class on color.  Wow - do I need to work on this!  I have been going through my reference books and then focusing on my own pallette selection and I am realizing I have been getting by with sheer luck and good fortune when it has been utilizing the paints in my pallette!

I then decided to make good use of this "learning" opportunity and cleaned out my two small portable pallettes and redo my selection of colors.  I am working on getting away from the student grade to the "artist" grade of materials.  I started really paying attention to the information on my watercolor tubes.  Least to say, I will be going back and making some changes with the colors I have.  My set of Danielle Smith Quinacridones are the top of my list of colors that I love and they are wonderful to work with.  So are my windsor newton selection!  But some of my in between colors that I choose not to have to mix, definitely need an upgrade.

I will start writing down some of my color thoughts in the next few blogs after I get my latest newsletter out to all my followers.

So lots of things to keep me busy!  Happy painting everyone!
