Muses from the artistic world of Sonia Mocnik

Adding people to my paintings

Pleinair sessions over for the summer, the brush has been a little lax in getting its excercise on paper.  No worries, I've been busy practising techniques and helping a friend learn to paint with watercolors.  She discovered all the demos on Youtube.  So together, now, we are working through some interesting demos from so many different countries and their artists.  Its an opportunity to create without having to select a topic - just find what inspires.  Its also wonderful to see how creative artists all around the world can be!

To keep myself motivated, I have now joined a few more groups to meet new artists and continue to stay up on the ever changing world of art.  I've also had a chance to help in the painting of props for a local theatre.  Its great to work on large pieces for the stage with acrylic - makes me want to work on bigger pieces generally.

Today, I finished another version of a painting I did this summer, "Talpalpa, a walk with a view".  I've wanted to add people into the picture, but have been concerned whether I felt comfortable enough to start working people into the mix.  I'm happy to say "yes", its been fun.  It needs more work and more practise, but I'm feeling more comfortable including more movement into the detail of my work.
